I attempted this (without a kreg jig OR the eighth screws) and managed to pull off a not too shabby job! Thanks for the tutorial and boost of confidence I needed to accomplish this project! It was incredably easy, and I am a beginner! Can't wait to attempt the bench...
http://i59.tinypic.com/b49sll.jpgDoubleTheLove!https://www.blogger.com/profile/07844259798007361977noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2322864304061375013.post-50380535494718884132014-10-01T11:27:24.676-04:002014-10-01T11:27:24.676-04:00So glad to hear it! But I'm glad it worked out the other way, too. And inclining the bottom shelf is a GREAT idea! I'll definitely be keeping that in mind. :) I would love to see pictures if you have any!Georgiahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16098769340141865316noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2322864304061375013.post-56269133056204841052014-03-13T22:46:01.981-04:002014-03-13T22:46:01.981-04:00Made this last weekend, it came out very well. No worries, just rotate the middle pieces on the sides and everything works out. And second, if you incline the bottom shelf a few degrees it makes putting down and retrieving the shoes a bit easier. All in all a great project for a Saturday afternoon.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11040873378229337792noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2322864304061375013.post-23715855267682128322013-04-13T22:36:31.451-04:002013-04-13T22:36:31.451-04:00Oh, thanks so much for pointing that out! I love the shoe rack and still plan on making it, but the supply list is wrong. It is physically impossible to make a rack to the measurements described with 1 2x4x8' and 1 2x4x10'...that gives you 216 inches worth of lumber, the cuts described in the article require 270 inches of lumber. It can be easily done with 3 2x4x8', though.

Not trying to be critical, as I said, I really like this project and thinks its going to turn out great. I just wanted to comment so that anyone else trying this would go into it aware of what material they really need.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2322864304061375013.post-28290228616344784202012-10-26T10:54:43.731-04:002012-10-26T10:54:43.731-04:00This comment has been removed by the author.Michelle J.https://www.blogger.com/profile/14024721091286280500noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2322864304061375013.post-87205828894913744712012-10-26T10:46:33.170-04:002012-10-26T10:46:33.170-04:00What a great place for kids (and parents) to take ...What a great place for kids (and parents) to take off their shoes!Michelle J.https://www.blogger.com/profile/14024721091286280500noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2322864304061375013.post-72475973155422804772012-10-09T22:43:06.408-04:002012-10-09T22:43:06.408-04:00Me too! :) I still have some flimsy cheapie stuff ...Me too! :) I still have some flimsy cheapie stuff that I'm wanting to replace.
