2x4s are wonderful. They're both versatile and inexpensive, making them ideal for many projects. Unfortunately, for first-time builders, they can be difficult to spot in the wild. 1. I found a board in my wall. It seems to be attached to both the floor and the ceiling. Is it a 2x4?

PROBABLY. But leave it there, it's already doing something important.

NO. The actual dimensions of a 2x4 are 1.5" by 3.5".

3. I can't find my glasses, but this board feels fuzzy. Is it a 2x4?

A Little Sunshine

If you follow me on facebook, you probably saw this sneak peek I posted a couple days ago. If not, SURPRISE! We have concrete countertops! We're still completing the final stages, but once that's done I will have a full tutorial for anyone else who wants to tackle a project like this.

One of the last things we need to do is seal the countertops - but there are SO MANY options. So we had a long talk with a guy at Lowe's and I think we've finally picked a winner. I think.
