My dad is an elementary art teacher. These are a few of my favorite benefits of being the daughter of a teacher:
- He gets chocolate milk for lunch and stashes them all in his fridge for my sisters to drink.
- He gets us into the gym after hours to play hockey (when you're pregnant they make you play goalie, fyi), knock out, or one of our made-up games like butt-ball, lord of the rings, and the hula hoop game. Good times.
- He gets summers off so he was always home with us.
- He lets us use his art equipment, like the paper puncher!
I used his old fashioned metal puncher for this, but it looks like you can get something similar in a cricut cartridge. Anyway, it punches out two snowflakes with slits down the side like this.
And you can just slip the two pieces together to make a 3d snowflake!
They're really pretty scattered around a tree. But maybe this year I'll string them up into... yeah, another garland.
So those are some of the perks to being a teacher's daughter. And one of the perks of being in a big family with lots of sisters? Pictures like these that are too good to NOT put on the internet.
Thank heavens for those shorts.
What are your family perks?
I don't know that there are many perks in my family, but your family looks so cute!
ReplyDeleteI love the snowflakes. They are just beautiful. I just found your blog, and so happy to have found it!

ReplyDeleteLOVE it that you're from a big family... me too! 5 girls, 3 boys, 2 sister-in-laws, 2 nieces, 2 nephews. They are are my main perks. :) Otherwise:
ReplyDelete- 3rd generation tradition/recipe of home made pizza on Saturday nights, made by the man of the house
- dad is a professional artist, mom is a professional home maker/holistic health nut/cute as a button mother of 8 (basically, they're awesome)
- I share a house with 2 of my younger sisters... and we LIKE IT
- I'm "the bad one", so I rarely worry about my siblings lol
Yay! I LOVE having a big family! :) It sounds like you guys are a close knit bunch too, which is wonderful. And how funny that your dad is an artist and mine is an art teacher! We seem to have a lot in common. :) You have some great perks there!
