Most of the things in our homes (or things we can pick up at the thrift store) could serve entirely different purposes if we give them a chance! And many times it's possible to re-purpose something for much less cost than buying whatever is meant to do the job. Here are a few examples:
Need a new vanity?
...Re-purpose a dresser or nightstand to do the job instead.
Or a new buffet to organize dishes and linens?
...Another good job for a dresser.
Want to brighten up your living room with new curtains?
...Put up some bed sheets.
None of your purses cutting it for fall fashion?
...Make one out of a sheet or an old shirt.
Does your bed look lonely without a headboard?
...Pick up an old door.
Can't afford a new couch?
...Try some pallets and a mattress.
Where have you found potential by re-purposing something? Any ideas you'd love try?
Fun ideas!
ReplyDeleteI love re-purposing.
We're currently using an "outdoor sun face birdfeeder thing" as a key holder near the back door.
(Hubby hasn't misplaced his keys since I created a home for them in the sun face.
It looks sorta like this one... http://www.amishtradercountry.com/product_thumb.php?img=//images/DSC01621.JPG&w=225&h=168
And, I'm using a vintage - bowl (maybe it was a gravy boat?) as a holder for my extracts in the kitchen.

Those ideas are all really clever!
ReplyDeleteI've had to do a little repurposing myself since I moved to my own apartment after subleasing for a friend {and using her furniture} over the summer.
Thank you for your comment on my blog! I love hearing that people love to read. What are your favorite books?
Dana, love those re-purposing ideas! Especially the sun key-catcher. I need something like that to drop my cell phone in. I'm always losing it! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Annie, and thanks for stopping by! I don't know if I could pick a favorite book...The Oath by Frank Peretti is probably the book I've read the most times. :) I like just about anything fiction, though. I haven't done as much reading since Baby B was born, but I'd love to get back to it! Any suggestions?
